Victorian Dollhouse

Victorian Dollhouse

Early Victorian Gingerbread homes date back to 1855!  The architecture is one of beauty mixed with spectacular shapes and patterns which compliment each other througout the mix of gables, roof trim, porch railing, baluster and more.

We entered the Victorian Dollhouse market for the love of the architecture.  Today homes are very cookie cutter... Three or 4 plans each with two or three facades - that's it.  Same stuff over and over.  The Victorian architecture allowed buyers to customize their homes to fit their likes!  Victorian Dollhouses do just that! Provide a wonderful opportunity to build and customize a dollhouse in the way we as creative crafters see fit.

Victorian Dollhouse Gothic Kit and Littlest Pet Shop Toys

This weekend we went to a BBQ with some family and friends.  I have been cutting the Victorian doll house kits for quite some time and had an extra one in our house that I brought over for the neighbor's daughter.  She loved and and told me that she thinks it will fit her Littlest Pet Shop characters... It did, perfectly!  So much, that the owl character actually stoops on the 1/8" thick railing!  I was taken back for a minute - this was the coolest thing.  Not only is the dollhouse fun and beautiful, a child showed me that their imagination will always connect the dots for us!  This Victorian Gothic Dollhouse is the perfect Dollhouse for Littlest Pet Shop characters!

I will post photos - just have to convince her to let me borrow her toys for a photo shoot! :)

Littlest Pet Shop Toys is a trademark of Hasbro

Victorian Dollhouse

Victorian Dollhouse
The more research I do, the more I learn about new things and ideas for the craft lover in all of us. I recently realized that passing down hobbies seems to be a slowing trend. Mothers and Grandmothers, Father and Grandfathers seem to have less involvement in our Children's lives today then 20 years ago. Is this because of the "Internet Age", or video games? Or because we are just all so busy these days?

In the miniatures world - nothing happens in a day. However, the launch of our new Victorian Dollhouse kits line has shown me that the product offers a fantastic method for bonding and sharing with children! Why!? Because they can both be built in under 2 1/2 hours. The reality is that this may not be the best gift for a 6 year old, however - 7,8,9,.... This would provide a wonderful opportunity to build and share!

Who knows, it could be the small dollhouse you build with your daughter or grand daughter which triggers something in them that draws them to the craft. I hope that this new generation takes the time to appreciate what we can do with our hands and little imagination. I hope that the video game world doesn't do their imagining for them.

Victorian Doll House Dormer Kits.

Just a quick announcement to let everyone know that we are working on 1" scale Victorian Dollhouse dormer kits. The kit will contain roof, front wall with window cut out and two side walls. I will post photos of our prototype unit soon - we currently only have a single kit which works on a 45 degree roof. The Dormer roof is a 12/12 pitch and has a spot for a mini gable.

We are looking to launch 3 kits before the middle of May 2009 which will work on a variety of popular roof pitches.
